Before this most recent week of action, half of the SEC’s men’s basketball teams were undefeated. Then the holiday week rolled around, with a good majority of programs participating in top tier tournaments on neutral venues across the country. Now there are three league schools with an impeccable record, two of which are in the top three in this week’s SEC men’s basketball power rankings.
Alabama suffered an early and unexpected setback by losing to Iona. Meanwhile, teams like Auburn, Texas A&M and others have all had their first glimpse of real competition, with varying results. The Tigers, for example, lost a 115-109 game to UConn before rebounding with two fine wins.
